My oldest daughter wanted to be in a challenge, so here she is (in a way). I painted her foot with water-based pastel crayons, then taped the shoelaces on in pieces. I posed her in front of a soccer goal at the local park and snapped away with a 70-200mm f/4 lens.

Processing: Cropped, rotated, USM, levels, shadow/highlight filter. Saturation boost overall, and shifted the yellow for a better grass color. I cloned out the tape edges and one stray blade of grass. Cloned in some missing paint on the bottom of two toes. A little burning and dodging on the "shoe."

Hey, if painting models is good enough for kiwiness, who am I to argue? Thanks for your comments everybody!

I must admit I'm a little embarrassed that this won. The light is really flat (overcast day), the foot position is awkward, and I could have done a more realistic job with painting seams, etc., but 6-year-old models aren't very patient. I suppose missing the blue by .002 is fair punishment. ;-)

What a clever idea!! Worked out well for you too, congratulations.

Scalvert: I am jumping for joy on your behalf. Man, are you good ! I am so proud of you and so very happy for you. A super idea and very well executed. Above all, a most interesting image with multi-level rings of nuances. A smashing and oustanding accomplishment back to back with your Home, Sweet Hole.

You see, when you have talent it just has to come out.

Congratulations on your blue and open the champagne and now your wife will say, "Honey, I thought you were crazy... but hey, you are my genius"

This one is awesome, nice DOF. Looks like you went through a lot of trouble getting the foot to look so much like a shoe! 10

Clearly some effort has gone into this one. It's well shot with good DOF, but you're suffering only from a lack of strong directional light to lift the shot out of blandness. Probably nothing you could do though

This one is really clever - but I wonder how many people won't notice the paint and just click by too quickly?

This is a Great idea. I really like how you put the strings straight onto the feet. The ball is very scintillating, and the image is very colorful. Your title completes it; very cleaver.

Wow. That's an awesome idea. I wish the photograph itself was a little more powerful. It could use a levels and curves adjustment or something to give it more impact. I think it will do quite well nonetheless.9

Awesome! Extremely creative, made me take a double... no, triple take! Witty title, too. Probably would've been cool if there's some motion involved, such as the ball being kicked by the foot. But still, this is a very good shot!
