 This is one of my favorites that I have ever taken, and it all came together by chance. I had several ideas for this challenge but as I started setting this up it just clicked.
We had just bought some fresh Basil to cook with I, and I thought that the plant looked great. So I ran through the house looking for something else to compliment the basil and I found this bubble vase.

Lighting setup:

Pretty simple setup as some have guessed.
It's sitting on top of a frosted glass table. Behind it is a yellow piece of foam core proped up.
I used a 60w clamp on lamp under the table to underlight it. This provided most of the visible light.
But I still wanted a bit more light on the leaves.
So I took another 60w clamp on light and used a custom snoot that I made for the light and aimed at the leaves. It was hard to place the light because of the reflections in the vase, and I didnt want to have to clone them out.

Image was processed in C1 since I shoot RAW, where I adjusted levels and most importantly what made this image was contrast. I increased the contrast to make the gradient stand out.

i like the color and the idea. a real photography stands out. its true that sometime you just need to click your camera then you will be surprised for the good shot you haave.... hopefully I can get one good shot too that everybody likes

Very well lit!

Nice and sharp flooring, and glass is well defined. Subject a little bland for me, but the lighting and composition make it a lot more pleasing to look at.

beautiful lighting. good composition too, right down to the choice of vase shape.
I think the 'wow' factor for me is mostly in the warm glow that reflects the feeling one gets when there is something alive and green around them.
technically good as well.

Love your lighting here - how it is dark at the top and gradually increases to get to the bright light at the base! I love how the vase and the plant sit in the frame. This one is really nice.

Wonderful subject - nice setup and exposure. Compositionally - I think it is MUCH stronger as a square image by cropping from the top. The banding in the golden /brown areas is unfortunate.
