although I think some might have thought this was set up, it was not. My youngest came home from a birthday party with bubbles and a few treats in a bag she immediately opened up her lollipop and bubbles. I was blowing them with her and noticed how beautiful the sky was behind her. I grabbed my camera and shot a few, I did try using a flash but for some reason it washed the background out and you could not even see the bubbles. I could not do multiple exposures with a moving object. So I had to use post processing to lighten her up a bit. I didn't really use the dodge and burn tool much at all. I did however use layers to process the sky and my little girl seprately. Honestly I did a poor job of it. I thought of not entering because I didn't like how it turned out and I didn't have time for a re-edit. But I entered it anyway and I'm glad I did.

I have seen this view a few times in your images before and it's hard to believe what a beautiful view you have!!! Cute photo! It would have been amazing if you had the tools to back-light the bubbles ... then they would have really popped instead of sort of getting lost in the sky.

I love the exposure on the mountains and bubbles, but I have to be honest; the dodging on the girl is really distracting. It seems so random. This application suggests that the light hits hard and then instantly dies off. Maybe a softer brush would help feather the effect in the future? Another thing that bothers me is the dark lollipop. That should most certainly be included in the brightening process.

This image has such potential to be so great, but lighting her definitely seems as though it were an afterthought. Had a reflector or flash been used you'd have a damn solid image.

This is the best...moving from an 8 to a 10 with twenty minutes left.

Nice highlight detail in the clouds, good DOF to keep bubbles and background reasonably sharp, good composition, I might have shot from a slightly higher angle to include a bit more of the water in the background.

Love the bubbles, Jenn. I feel like the lighting is a bit odd on her dress and face, but it's a very compelling image.

Well done! Top ten for sure. Only thing I am unsure of is the burning and dodging job.. Maybe a bit harsh around her hand with the lollipop and her shoulder. Maybe also on her leg. Other than that though.. Well done.

A bit contrived, but darling. If it were me, I'd have shot, so that you see her, the star bubble maker and the clouds and bubbles only. Just me. She's precious.
