Another last day shoot for me, I really need to stop this as it's not doing good things for my scores :)
When I look at sherpet's portfolio, a few things stick out at me: patterns, colors, flowers, square crop (I wonder how many people will pick up on this), and post processing. So that's what I was going for with this flower on a weaved basket (with processing that I feel is very close to many of the results she has achieved). I wonder how it will fair in the voting.
Lighting: Most of the light here comes from a window, on a cloudy day to provide nicely diffused light. I diffused it more with an opaque piece of plastic. This is what caused the long exposure. I also used a flash with very low power, a mini soft box attached, and gelled with 1/4 CTO from the lower right side of the image to reduce the shadows cast from the window. The gel was necessary to match the evening light coming in, and keep the light looking completely natural.
Post Processing:
* Crop (not quite square, but close)
* White balance
* Decrease black point
* Increase brightness
* Increase definition and contrast
* Decrease vibrancy
* Increase orange saturation while decreasing luminance
* Topaz Adjust (fairly light, mostly I wanted to bring out some of the wood details)
* Increase contrast and vibrancy
* Export as TIFF
* Resize
* Sharpen Edges
* Save as JPEG |

NICE AND SUNNY this image re the use iof the Cane backdround and the bright cheerfull flower. I do Love the CROP AND TEXTURES.....

| Very interesting to have the color of the background so similar to the subject -- quite risky, but I think you made it work with the strong patterns. Nice. |

| Like the texture ... The minimal contrast between flower and weave makes it all blend together for me. |

| Love the crisscrossing of the wicker and the flower petals with it. Nice palette too. Maybe a bit more light on the flower would have helped. |
