A wild parrot? How can you catch such a fast and free bird. Besides, he is much smarter than me.

Nikon D1x camera with an AFS 80-200 f2.8 lens at the 200mm setting. Image is tightly cropped.

I love the brilliant colors, and the depth of field. Great job.

Striking picture, nicely captured. Colours are vibrant and the compostition good.

I love the colours in this. It seems a little bit overexposed in places, but I don't mind. It adds to the brilliance of the overall effect here. Great framing and nice DOF too.

With the exception of a few blown out bright spots, this is a very nice shot. I like the colors. The angle and framing/cropping are great. There is a bright spot on the wood in the bottom right, on his back by his "shoulder" and on top of his head. The one on his beak doesn't bother me at all. The background is a bit distracting with the white circle shapes. Otherwise, very pretty bird. Good luck in the challenge.

Cute bird - lovely colors! Could have been a little sharper though, to my eye.

Great color and composition! The eye is so well focused but I wish you had a bit more DOF to catch the focus on the chest feathers as well. DPz

What vivid colors on the bird! I love his eye! I think the one thing that really detracts from the impact of this photo is that both the bird and the background are quite busy. I'd love to see him against a more solid or less contrasty background.

This is a great subject, but I think it would have been so much better if the beak and some of its feathers had not been so blown out. NIce use of DOF.

This a a most beautiful bird. Is he yours? I hope you have a photo of all of him. The focus is sharp and the colors are so deep. I love the background out of focus. All your attention is on the bird himself. Those eyes, excuse me, that eye is beautiful. This should place or these people are crazy. Fantastic photo!

Ahhhhhh a sight for sore eyes. What a beauty! Nice clarity on the eye.

I love the colors. I'm not sure how 'in the wild' this bird is. Something tells me he is domesticated though. I do like the picture though it is very well done. - Inspzil

Great shot. The head and beek are in great focus but the focus fades off further down. The DOF is great all except for that.

Great shot of a loorakeet! Except for the flash on the beak, this is a wonderful, colorful shot. The branch in the lower right corner is a tad distracting, but still, this is a 10 in my book! Congrats! Swash

challenge met. lovely colors of the bird. great focus, too, and the catchlight in the eye is an added bonus. i don't like the background as much, personally. while it is sufficiently out of focus to not contain any distracting objects, it does have a lot of tonal differences from the light through the vegetation. the one to the left of the wing and just above the branch are most distracting, for outside of DPC you can probably tone them down a bit and therefore make this an even better shot.

We have these at our zoo. They are very neat birds and really great colors. They bite too!! Nice shot, but could do without the lower right. I realized you'd of lost the bird if you took it out. Nice focus.

Nice colors! It looks like the lower left portion of the bird is slighty blurred which takes away from the shot. The background looks great though. Not bad.
