James Michener in his classic novel, Centennial, noted the stone beaver appearing to climb the east flank of Long's Peak in RMNP. Seen from a hundred miles away, this is a dominant landmark in Colorado. Oh, not everyone sees a beaver, but many do. According to native American folklore, "When the beaver reaches the top of the mountain, it will be the "end-of-days".

According to the first two comments, people are not seeing the granite beaver. It's quite obvious to me, but I look at it all the time.

Yes, I'm a bit surprised that so many cannot see the giant stone beaver. It's obvious to me. I can't look at the mountains without noting the shape of the beaver climbing towards Longs Peak.

Well, it's ongoing. Most people do not see what i think is VERY obvious. It is a part of my daily scenery. If it was obvious enough for Michener to mention in his novel, then it's good enough for me.
I'll just laugh this one off as "poor photography". |

I really like the image and I like the b/w treatment, but I must admit I'm struggling to find anything climbing anything. And I don't think that I'm sorry I can't find it, because it's such a beautiful image. |
