It's a very nice idea and I have taken many of these myself, Children love the peek-a-boo and parents find the photos very funny. The main defect I find in this one is that both background and side of the face are extremely bright, so that the head seems to be much larger than life, creating a sort of alien look which is kind of funny but not too flattering to the toddler. Unless obviously it was deliberate. Unfortunately segment metering ofen plays that trick on me and using spot metering with a fast moving child can make you loose the perfect expression while recomposing. Did you tried cropping to exclude the right hand and upper-left hole completely?

To mind to much of a snapshot, of playground equipment! you could have made more of those lovely eyes and pudgy hands!5

I like the style and concept, perhaps i question the crop and composition- the cut off hand and extra long wood to the left of the frame don't seem to make sense to my eyes.

(I think) that you should have straightened the lines up and gotten more of the left hand in the picture to bring it back to more of a symmetrical stand point.

Good luck with the challenge
