A totally candid and real street shot of a girl I do not know. It was a happy ending though, she reunited with her parents after having been left behind and lost for a moment and that moment was what created this scene for me to capture.

I'm glad it was a happy ending, isn't it amazing when your in the right place at the right time, it's so exciting for that to happen to a photographer, makes your day, even better is when you have your camera ready like you did, thanks for picturing life like it really is sometimes, and not like a soap commercial, for this I highly commend you.

Oh I just realised this ribboned, due to a DQ, now I' even happier.

Love this shot. I actually thought that the title referred to the little girl thinking someone left the back pack behind, and was concerned where they might be. The greenish color cast is a perfect addition for a the emotion I felt looking at the picture.

All in all, wonderful!

I'm pleasantly surprised that you did as well as you did with this. I don't vote all that often these days, and I purposefully avoided this one because of the subject matter just not being my taste.
Your shot makes me sad that I didn't vote, simply so that I could have given this the high vote it was due. The depth of field on this is marvelously done, and be it the processing or the natural light of the scene, but it fits the idea and the image marvelously. And, of course, the moment and the fact that your captured it, is awesome. Great candid shooting.
Very, very nice.

I gave you a nine. I was so caught up by the strangeness, made striking by your POV and her unusual unchildish dress and wondering why the backpack was ahead of her.... Nice work.

What a little pixie. I'd love to see the look on her face at that moment.

Great, poignant image. I expect to see this on the front page, though I can't help thing a slightly tighter rectangular crop (rather than square) losing the window from the left and a bit of clutter from the top right might improve things. Nonethelesss, one of the best images in the challenge.

The pop of red & the adorable curls really give punch to this photo. Love the textures & also that she is looking away. Stands out from the crowd!

If this is staged or you were in the right place at the right time it matters not to me. Love the composition and how isolated the little one appears. Wonderful shot.

Oh ... the color tonality and blur is spectacular for the feel of this shot! The tension that you caught in the little girl's position is breath taking.
