A little late, but I thought this shot should have a bluebird. I found it quite interesting. :)

Yes under-rated photo for sure. But look at all the 10's.

I don't really know what to say, I am bit overwheelmed and would rather say nothing, but for sure I can't :)
I have been on DPC for several years now and, while I very seldom submit anything, I do enjoy occasionally browsing through the archives. So, at some point or the other I have seen and enjoyed talented work from all of you.
Thank you very much for taking time to comment, for the favorites, for the encouragement, I do appreciate it a lot, particularly because I like what you do, even if more often than not I have no clue how you do it or where you get certain ideas.
Well, now I can shut up :)

The effect works best with the mother in the shadow; it resonates.

Beautiful, beautiful image! Left a few of us speechless over here. Check out LevT's japanese train photo. For me, this is on the same gallery wall.
Don't fool yourself, this was fantastically received! :)

Thanks for the many positive comments and faves too!
While this image was obviously not to everybody's taste, I am really glad that I am not the only one finding it interesting.

I really like that photo. The crop is golden, in every sense of the word. Moreover, the blur really works well here, and the tones are perfect for rendering this mood. The mother in the darkness is fabulous, as well as the child's expression. My only concern would be about the colored noise: it's a little bit disturbing, I think I would have preferred a monochromatic noise instead, but I'm nitpicking. Again, great photo, and a perfect illustration of the challenge.

The darks and rich colors and just stunning. And the composition is terrific... the way the faces are turned. The light. Love this.

I can't put my finger on what it is, but I really like this shot. Maybe the child safe in his mothers arms...definitely like the processing...I don't know...but it gets a 10 and a favorite from me.
