 This is the "safe deposit room" of the historic Trust and Savings Bank in downtown San Diego. The bank was built in 1927, closed in 1994 and subsequently converted into an upscale Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Luckily, the new owner preserved much of interior decor of the building, including this great vault located (as you would expect) in the basement. And what was even more surprising to me, the hotel staff did not mind one bit for me to take photos there, furthermore, a very helpful employee named Danny went downstairs to the vault with me, opened the doors (normally locked) and let me take any photos I pleased, both outside and inside.

Actually, it was Bear_music who told me about this awesome place - after 20 years in San Diego I had no idea about it. Thanks, Robert!

Love that there's a meeting room behind it. Can easily visualize high net individuals plotting future wealth in there.

Wow!! Lev Awesome shot. I'm new at photography(2 years), and a friend of mine turned me on to this site. I've only been in 3 challenges, and I plan on entering every week. It's helpful for me to look at great pictures, as I can only learn from them. I placed 105 in this challenge, and I'm still proud of that. I know that if I keep shooting I can only get better. Thanks for your inspiration!!

Amazing... And I remember very well when this building was rehabbed, and the architects hired us to document the project, and we shot this very vault :-)

That's a rather large L lens you have on the right of shot there! That aside though, a compelling image =). The framing through the vault door adds a lot of intrigue. Looking forward to learning what this place is when the challenge is over.

In my top 5 for the challenge! Such an intimidating entrance to the boardroom -- not sure I'd want to be in there for meetings!! Wonderfully composed and processed...maybe a little burning on the vault door to calm down the highlights, but that's just nitpicky!
