First time I've ever used 'untitled' as a title, but in this case I intended it as a quiet tribute. The modest dignity of an untitled gentleman.

Interesting use of space with the way the door (?) chops the picture into two unequal portions, one with the gentleman in it which is quite full and the larger section which is almost minimalist in content - yet clearly parts of the same scene. Yet the air of almost Zen like quiet is questioned by the heavy padlock and chain on the extreme left of the shot.

Very interesting shot and well spotted.

Framed in between senseless doors... he's watching tv, isn't he. Beautiful.

Interesting almost like an optical illusion, looks like he is staring at the door, gave you a 7.

Bugger, gave you a ten, ran out of time to comment and leave a stinky fish. I was drawn to the stark geometric composition. Such rigidity, see in his posture as well.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Such a pure and simple image; unfettered by superfluous choices or stylistic devices. Truly wonderful composition, great toning, excellent handling of the light and a great sense of being there.

Critical stuff: No

Overall: Perfect choice of monochrome. A really great image (I mean great as in significant). Utterly masterful.

Fantastic multiple layers of hints and symbols: padlock, inexpensive furniture, white hair, glasses, all capturing attention and keeping me looking, enhanced by the unconventional division into 2 rectangles and interesting light. 10.

The shutters make for an interesting dissection of the composition and it leaves you wondering - what is the person looking at?
