As part of the Beatitudes.
In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads:
Blessed are the meek:
for they shall inherit the earth.
The World English Bible translates the passage as:
Blessed are the gentle,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Not what you expect? In the event of a nuclear winter or pandemic, the creatures of the forest would likely survive. They can digest cellulose materials and are tolerant of cold and snow. Deer can live in places where man cannot.

Oh, it's just a photo contest. I think nature is amazing, as is. You can't make up more wild stuff than antlers, super sense of hearing and winter coats of dense fur. (I mean you can, but science fiction will be less wonderful than science fact.) True, I did not make a cartoon. Will likely suffer in score because I didn't use all (or any of) the expert editing tricks. The low scores are okay. I'd rather focus on my photography. Time in the field is always more valuable than time in front of the computer monitor.

Kind of a silly score, but I guess that's the nature of the thing, eh? At least I held down the fort for the "real nature" offerings, but I did it by wildly overprocessing my poor little horseshoe crab molt :-)
