It had to be done. You know it had too. And I just wanted to poke a little fun at my own expense. :)

[Dec. 13th, 2011 08:08:32 AM]

Actually, I didn't want a squirrel. I wanted a bird. The problem is, I don't get birds anymore, because the squirrels keep scaring them away. So I went with what I had.

This one probably would have done better

but I was really going for the blur of a squirrel escaping -- I wanted to get more of a feel of freedom. I don't like the white background. I actually tried wallpapering a piece of tag board, so that it would look more like an indoor scene, but none of those shots worked out.

Thanks for the comments -- I was hoping that it would give some people a laugh. :)

Ok -- since people were kind enough to give 14 comments -- here's more of the story:

It started off with a very dusty birdcage that was up in an alcove above our front door. My daughter had to get it down for me, because I couldn't get to it even with a ladder. (too short).

I hung a white backdrop over my deck railing and placed the birdcage on a wire table.

And waited for birds.

I actually got a couple of birds to show a bit of interest -- took about an hour.

Then the squirrels came.

I went out on the deck, thinking that if I frightened him off, maybe a bird would have a chance.

I felt terrible!! I went quickly up to the cage, and he was so scared, he forgot where the door was!!! He was rampaging around in the cage, and I was feeling so guilty... He finally found the door.

I figured that he'd be so traumatized, that he wouldn't come back.

He was back 10 minutes later. Even with any of the more mundane things I've put out for other challenges, he hasn't come back that quickly. I guess a cage full of birdfood was more than he could withstand.

After a couple of more times of simply pounding on the door to scare him off, I finally gave up and started going for the squirrel shot.

He would go and sit in the cage, happy as you please. I'd let him eat for awhile, then knock on the back door to get him to leave.

110 shots and 3 hours later, I had 2 possibilities and a very fat squirrel.

Two days later I tried wallpaper the tag board to make the background not so stark. I hung around for about an hour. He brought a friend to check it out:

But they never went in it again. After about an hour I gave up.

LOL! You know, in England describing someone as pissed means they are drunk - if someone is annoyed or irritated, they are 'pissed off'.

:) Should do well with the wacky voters! Not sure how you got the squirrel to co-operate? Cardboard cut-out? hehe.

A bit too stark and wish the crop wasn't so tight, but good concept and almost a good catch.
