This is 100% last minute, and I have no idea how well it will do. The idea kind of popped in my head with less than 2 hours to go in the challenge. After getting Cody to bed, I spent about 10 minutes on the setup, 3 minutes taking a few exposures with different flash power settings, and another 10 minutes post processing. The final result is something I like, for a basic editing challenge. It's simple, yet (to me) communicates a strong message for this challenge.

I can see voters being very split on this. Some will think it's well executed and a good idea, others will simply not like it at all. A majority will think it's average. Here's to hoping more people like it than hate it :). Hopefully those that don't understand the message right away will read the title and connect the meaning.

I must say, my new 100mm Macro made this shot even possible. Messing around with extension tubes and the relative lack of sharpness of other lenses (they simply cannot compare) with this little time would have been a disaster. This lens made it possible to setup my shot in no time.

I used a Yongnuo flash attached to the camera, pointed to the ceiling to provide the light. Even on camera, TTL doesn't work with this flash, so I had to take a number of shots at the different power levels to get what I wanted. I used this instead of my canon flash because it was right by where I setup this shot, so I didn't have to waste any precious time.

Post Processing:
* Increase exposure a lot, but reduce brightness a lot (made the background as dark as possible while keeping the subject lit)
* Increase recovery
* Increase black point slightly
* White Balance
* Straighten
* Crop
* Increase definition
* Increase saturation and vibrancy
* S curve with a bias towards the highlights
* Levels
* Eliminate dark blue saturation and reduce luminance
* Export as TIFF
* Resize
* Sharpen edges quite a bit to retain details in the metal
* Save as JPEG
