 I blame my relentless cold for this creation. I got the idea at the last moment, on my way out of my office: I saw the gorrilapod on the ground and decided it would make a cute "being". So, it's not quite an original creature, but something that might still be around "after man". The rest of the scene is pure hallucination...

Shot everything (the sphere, branch, smoke, stars, pod, and "dirt") in about 30 minutes, then edited for about 5 hours.

convert 9 images from raw
several filters including CEP
saturation/hue on some layers
brightness/contrast on some layers
duplicated branch and transformed two of the layers
shift color on the smoke
merge everything to run flood filter
copied flood layer
dodge and burn
save for web

good feel here. The teal bubble makes the shot and gives reference in my eyes. One of the best blendings of photography and graphic arts in the challenge.
