Thanks everyone for taking the time to vote and especially to all those who shared their thoughts. All are most welcome. I was unsure of how much blur would work best. This is a less blurry one than the first attempt, and subsequent less "DOF" shots didnt seem to convey the miniture feeling.

Great start to the New Year :)

What would this photo look like if we didn't have toys and models? .... guess I'll never know but it looks dang good.

Congrats on your red. I really like the miniature effect here. It is quite convincing.

This is a great. You've got the blur nice overall. To 'fake' a very narrow DOF. I would of thought this would of got a MUCH higher score than it did.

IMO, could of done with more blur to background behind digger, very tight up close to above digger's cab and around arm, to make the digger stand out more. Also, I would of tried bringing downwards a full width of blur, a bit closer to the digger ,even engulfing the two men in the middle, so they look like they were outside of the faked narrow DOF.

Good work!

Boys and their toys, so small in the scheme of things. Well done.

Of all of the entries, I think this is one of the better submissions. It has good foreground and background blur that gives the focused portion that miniature look. The focused portion/subject has action to keep the viewer interested. With that said, I wonder if the foreground and background DOF could have been lessened just a touch for more context of the scene. Just a thought. Best wishes on the voting.

You emphasize the center point of this construction sit very well. The workers seem to be tiny figures.

Nice example for this challenge. The only nit I have is the digger is a little under saturated.

I can tell the original picture has potential. The light, barricades, people and crane seem like perfect ingredients for this challenge. Unfortunately, it seems the blur effect got a bit out of hand.
