 Not sure this is my "best" of 2011, (whatever that is anyway!), but it's one of my personal favourites, even if it is a bit of a typical Venice tourist pic.

Hmm, I don't remember this shot. With my computer breaking I unfortunately didn't get to go over all of my votes again and adjust them after my initial quick categorization (which is how I normaly vote). It'd have got a 7 if I had (instead of the 6 I gave it - sorry). I prefer your b&w boat shot (I even favoruited it), but this is still a really fine photo and I think picking the image you're most happy with is important. The toning is really nice, but it's the man in the archway the really makes the shot for me.

Day stretches across the piazza.
Walks of life are illuminated
Pounding across the pavement.

The B&W tones are great; very dynamic. Love how we see silhouetted among the city square all 'walks' of daily life. A very nicely captured street shot.

very nice lighting, i may have tried to put the horizon closer to the bottom third line, cutting out some of the foreground. the silhouettes are much more interesting.
