Book review

A young lady passing by....

[Jan. 29th, 2012 05:33:44 PM]

I LOVE that I've been mistaken for Ben twice with this! :-)

By the way, the dark thing in the lower corner is the pants leg of the adult walking with her.

[Jan. 29th, 2012 09:32:15 PM]

YAY! :-)

Heh! Tis Ben who does blurry-sharp so well. I will try to develop my own style. :-) I am very flattered to be mistaken for him with this shot!

Deb, this is fantastic. The angle really helps to increase the feel of motion. Great job.

Well, I like the confusion. We wear off on each other, yes? I know my attempts of street are heavily influenced by you. Beautiful image Deb.

Wonderful representation... love the stripes. The tilt shows a defiance and the motion an impatience, both qualities that I would have expected from Jane Eyre.

Very cool -- like the angle, the movement and the costume. Not sure what the dark area in the lower left is but I might have preferred it not be there. Nice score from me.

I really like the angle and the blur in this shot. It gives a sense of motion - of flight which fits perfectly with the title. The B&W treatment really suits the image well for the eye notices shapes and motion more. The stripes on the dress calls and holds my attention - and I love how they are on the diagonal the same as the direction of the motion. The stripes laid on the diagonal following the motion strengthens the sense of movement towards the edge of the frame. I also love how the girl is moving towards the upper left corner - it gives your viewer a sense of direction plus an interesting angle of exit from the frame. We ask, "just what lies over in yonder corner?"

All those fleeing ruffles. Pleats. Whatever they are. It's a very nice exercise in sharp blur, which is harder than it looks to do convincingly. And this is convincing. Didn't know the Livesey book, so looked it up. You got it squarely. Now I want to read it. Thank you. 8
