Challenge: Effects of SOPA (Expert Editing*)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Canon EOS-550D Rebel T2i
Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro
Location: sweater yarn
Date: Jan 26, 2012
Date Uploaded: Jan 26, 2012

Went to the Salvation Army store and picked out a nice $3 sweater. This did not turn out as well as it looked in my head when I first imagined it. However, it looks better than I feared it might given my limited Photoshop skills. This is really the first entry in an Expert Challenge that took advantage of the additional "Expert" editing features. I am not sure how it will do, but I am glad I attempted it.

OK, when my Indoor Macro shot is sitting at 4.8 and I have been thinking I should put down the camera and consider taking up golf, this is a nice surprise:

Very happy with how this one has done with minutes before rollover. Thanks to everyone that commented and the favorite.

Post challenge -- my second ribbon! My first was a yellow last February. Maybe it will be an annual thing.

Excellent visual metaphor -- should be on a poster or billboard somewhere ...

great concept Mark, and well done (except perhaps for the skin tone - a bit too reddish IMO). Congrats on the ribbon!

This is a great shot IMNSHO; not only from a philosophical, but from artistic and technical standpoints. I am not sure what you did in Photoshoppe. It looks like a real sweater that you had, perhaps tailored, with the word. The unraveling threads even have the blue and red. I just love it. (Nice tummy as well.)

Contratulations.

Excellent idea, very well executed! How did you get the lettering to be so integral to the yarn? Congrats on the well-deserved ribbon! (PS - nothing wrong with golf - fine sport. I just need to find people who want to play around here and I can give up challenges altogether.)

It was kindly pointed out to me in a PM that her bellybutton is there for the world to see. And so it is. I guess I was just gobsmacked by the pristineness of that belly! Congrats on the ribbon. Stellar concept and execution.

I enjoy a metaphor that goes to hell!

Or perhaps you are one of them! (the SOPA Guys); contaminating the young men of this community. Since your image, all of them are now convinced freedom should disappear entirely.
I think I will signal this devious behavior to the Site Council!

you've really captured the texture of the knitted sweater nicely. The shadows on and cast by the strand on the rhs look great. Really good photo if you ask me. Conceptually, the perfect skin of a female abdomen compels me to unravel faster! For me, this doesn't reflect the current situation, however.

Now, if I can only get George Michael's "freedom" out of my head"....

What did you do to her belly button...???? Excellent concept, beautifully done, although seriously, way too much smoothing on her belly.

Superb metaphor. The belly is a bit too flawless and other things about it remind me of a movie poster, but it's right on target and one of my favorites. Well done.

Nicely done...though with the amount of attention the nude gallery gets on this site, most might consider this a good thing. Actually, they might actually be hoping for a quick unraveling ;)

Wow... you somehow rolled sex appeal into SOPA. AND made the point of SOPA well! If I could vote, I'd have to go with a 10. Nicely done.
