gorgeous tones and textures here. i love the lines in the wood. the direction they run (diagonal) really adds to your composition.

The flipped version looks so much better IMHO. That one gets a ten. Too bad it doesn't count now though.

thanks a lot for your comments and questions/suggestions.
the first question most of you have is that it might look upside down.. hmm I think it does look better that way :> I am not sure why I changed the orientation. the flipped version is

Now I need to give a proof of this submission, but hmm I am in process of moving and no internet at home :(

Exceptional job of "printing." Strong whites and black blacks are just perfect. The heavy black border doesn't work for me - but no points deducted for it. Overall a great rendition of hope - thanks for sharing.

One of the best entries... even without the context of the challenge this would instantly evoke a memory of that hopeful question that leads to this well-known game. Slightly dark overall but lovely composition and detail.

Many photos with this theme in this challenge, but the simplicity and clarity here and what help this shot stand out.

Call me weird, but I like this picture upside down even better.

this might seem like a random comment but immediately i saw this photo my first reaction was that it seems upside down... maybe a 180 degree rotation would be better?

The texture of the wood gives a lot to the picture. It's also nice to see this in black and white. One of my favorites

I just got to know. Is this image upside down? It really looks like it is. And I am sad to say that it bugs me enough to vote down a little. I really like the composition and the tonal range is really good. If it is upside down I am not sure why. I turned it over and it looks fine the other way. But please don't think I was too harsh in the voting, I still gave it a 9.

This is the third photo I've seen on this subject. An interesting twist. I hope you do well.

I really liked this - original interpretation of the he loves me . . .idea. I wonder if presented in colour would have added to the picture or not?

Very nice...the composition looks a bit contrived but I like the contrast in the texture. A good shot for top 10!

i like the idea for this shot a lot. the image itself is very nice too, however, the point of view, the angel of view, seems a bit off. it is almost as if you have to swist your head to look at it properly, the flower itself is off being on top of the image, defying gravity. the image does not strike you as being perfect right away when you look it. perhaps a different angel of view will look better.

well done. technically fantastic--the composition could be a little bit more interesting

Wow. I really love this photograph.. It really leaves you wondering.. what is that last petal for? Love me.. or not.. and what the wisher hopes for.
