    Biography: I've had an interest in taking photos for as long as I can remember but only recently did I get serious about it. The advent of my 50th year brought about an epiphany and the realization that although I considered myself an artist (painting and landscape design) I didn't really feel comfortable in those medias. What I do like to do--throughout all of my life--is to look at things. Simply look.

    Once that finally hit me, things progressed quickly from there: I bought myself an early birthday present of a Canon Digital Rebel and I've been taking about 180-200 shots a day for the past 2 months.

    Digital is such a wonderful learning tool. Its immediacy speeds the learning process exponentially. So does the self and outside critiquing that sites like DPC can offer (I also upload daily to BetterPhoto). I can't believe how much I've learned in such a short time and how much better my images have become through this process.
