I enjoy looking at things in abstract ways, extracting the pure shapes and forms from the things I see every day. This brought me to modern art, but because I lack the physical artistic skills to paint the things I see, I try to photograph them.
I started out in 1999 as a Rave Photographer, capturing the abstract shapes and emotion I witnessed and experienced myself. Shooting only film, I was able to capture the essence of the atmosphere with the often abstract images I produced. With the death of the rave scene, I found myself without my creative outlet. I soon discovered similar vibrant colors and geomettric shapes in flowers and plants. I dove into macro photography and eventually got a digital body for my growing collection of EOS gear (Early 2004). Before long, I was seeing whole worlds in insect scale and with it, the challenge of capturing them. I still enjoy urban and abstract photograpy as well, especially modern archetecture.
As far as formal education goes, I'm a Chemistry phD graduate student in Pittsburgh, PA. (I also have a BS in Chemistry with a minor in Biology) and hope to finish up in December 2005. |
