Biography: I got a Canon A80 a couple of years ago for holiday/family snapshots, etc... I always knew that most of my pictures turned out mediocre at best, with a good shot every once in a while. I decided to try and improve my ratio of decent shots to poor ones. Found a couple of sites (including DPC) that I hoped would inspire me to practice, learn how to use all the buttons and settings effectively, and learn some good techniques.

Well, I went and did it! Made the jump to a dSLR. The deal included the kit lense, so that's what I got. I figure once I have gotten used to the camera (and paid it off), I can start saving for some other lenses.

It's great participating in this site, and I'm here to learn and have fun. All comments and critiques are appreciated and taken in stride.

I try to comment on at least a few others' shots each week (some in challenges, some in the forums). I am by no means an expert (photographer or critic), but try to convey what my interpretation is (what I see is what I see). If I ever offend anyone, I apologize. If you think I don't know what I'm talking about, you're probably right. It's just one person's opinion.
