Reflectionsby WoodwardComment by bvy: Shooting earlier or later in the day might have helped this shot. Too much of the foreground is in the shadows. |

Going fishing.by WoodwardComment by Leo: Composition isn't pleasing. The heron(?) is too centered, the flower blocks the center of the bird. Might have tried stepping to your left to compose the flowers off the bird. Since the bird is looking to the left, may have tried to compose the bird to the right a bit more (rule of thirds), so that the bird is looking into the frame. IMHO. On a positive note, you captured great texture and color of the feathers and the eye and beak. |

Mallard ducksby WoodwardComment by Yo_Spiff: I think there are a few issues with this that will keep it pretty low in this challenge.
-Composition is too centered. The ducks are plopped right in the middle of the frame and my eye is not led anywhere.
-White balance may be off some, and could account for so much brownish tone, which is keeping the subject from standing out. Something is off with the colors.
-The detail on the ducks seems a little soft. I suspect this may have been an extreme crop.
-Ducks are just a difficult subject to do because they are so common. A duck shot must be really outstanding to get attention.
Sorry to be so harsh on your effort, but I hope this was at least useful. |

Train station Crawford Notch NH.by WoodwardComment by Teafran: Crisp and sharp, this image could have used a little bit more saturation to really make the colors pop. A nice dramatic sky set against the ridge line is a definite plus. The sense of proportion is excellant and well developed. A little more work on this using tone mapping would make it a very saleable image. A very worthy entry into the challenge and a potential top twenty image. |
