Good, simple idea, like the background; shot could have been enhanced with a vertical crop, deeper DOF and a second, dim light or reflector from the left.

some PP work and a different camera angle could have done so much good for this image.
cropping out many of the distracting BG elements would help keep the focus on the family, setting them against the water and not a narrow strip with land and other people behind would help elevate this from "snapshot" status, and some level or curve adjustments in PP software would help with the lighting some.
hopefully this is taken as the constructive comment it is meant as - i was given the same advice here many times over and hope that it helps you with future entries :)

Love the crop -- nice way of seeing. Perhaps fewer headband isolated on on a black back drop would have allowed the colors to pop more.

The shot looks a little compressed to me. I think a larger image would have given more detail. JMO.
I do like the colors of this, and the sparkle on the sequins.
