candycane(no edit)by stepwalker87Comment by Paul: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Straight out of the camera eh? Nicely done. Very interesting combination of subjects - I like how there is a linking theme of 'lines'. I find the orange luminance highly intriguing.
Critical stuff: Not much really, hard to argue with a zero edit - suggest anything and you would lose that.
Overall: Interesting. Nicely done. |

badapple re editedby stepwalker87Comment by Sioux: I do like the re-edited version better, but I enjoyed a good laugh with the first one. (I'm one of your 7s.) Perhaps if the title had been a little less subtle others would have gotten the humor. I would have preferred a lighter colored apple which would have stood out more on the first version. Hope you have a grand time here and thank you for serving! |

all i needby stepwalker87Comment by JH: I think you were stung on your subject matter (and possibly title) as opposed to any technical issue.
Flags, religious symbolism and guns generally don't score well at DPC as they are controversial.
Anyway, you're over in Iraq so there must be loads of interesting things to photograph locally that voters back home wouldn't usually see! :) |

all i needby stepwalker87Comment by glad2badad: Sorry. This doesn't work for me at all for a still life with fruit. Maybe (a big maybe) if I couldn't see the edge of the plywood and if the tonal range was better (basic levels adjustment) I'd give this a 4 instead of a 2. |
