I always comment when I vote below 5. This type of shot could be much better if you used a tripod and a long exposure with a high aperture setting (f/11 or higher). What that would do is give you more of the image in focus and a more natural look to the image. Flash in this case is very harsh and unnatural looking. Better luck next time. Check the tutorials for more info about this type of shot.

The food looks great! As a suggestion, if you remove the color blue from the plate, it will look pure white

the depth of field is not quite deep enough for us to get a good feel for the dish. More directional lighting would also help this photo.

i feel like this plate needs a sharp focal point somewhere, or maybe even the entire dish in focus...the out of focus makes it looks a little mushy in spots, but not a bad picture by any means

I know that shooting food is a tough challenge from all the cooking shows I watch but your dish looks unappetizing to me. Your depth of field is too shallow to me, so I can't see all the pasta in focus. Perhaps if you had shot it a bit farther out and then cropped in very close it would have appealed to me more.. I know that they utilizes different techniques when shooting food, Not that I know what they are AT ALL. I didn't try this challenge because I knew I could cook the dishes but didn't think I knew enough about lighting to pull it off. To me, your lighting seems a bit flat and harsh. Without enough contrast to help define all the food elements, they seem a bit muddled. although this is not a cooking challenge, one of my criteria for judging these food shots, at least the people food, is does it make me want to eat it. Since we eat with our eyes just as much as we do with our noses and taste buds, I don't want to eat your dish.

Overall, this photo is nice. You used a good perspective and the balance is good.
My main suggestion would be to try to work with the lighting to make this more pleasing. All of those little reflections are really taking away from the details of the food.
