Greetings from the Critique Club!

Nice shot overall, I liked this one because it brought back memories of my Grandfather and the cabin he had. We used to go up there for summers, no electricity, no running water, very primative but we loved it!

I love the colors in this shot, the shadows are wonderful and the fact that you didn't polish up the lantern is also a good touch. The dust, grime and little cobwebs really add to the shot. Your second entry and you did very well. But what to do to make it better? Well, the things I find distracting is the mirror on the lantern, while it adds character to the overall lantern, in this shot it is a bit distracting to me. Maybe if the shot was from a different angle so you could see the lines going out to the mirror but not the mirror itself? Also the glare on the glass is distracting. Lighting is the hardest part of shooting, there have been many a late night I have spent HOURS working on getting the lighting just right so there was no glare yet the object was still well seen. And flash on the camera doesn't help! :)

This is a great shot overall though. I really enjoyed it, thanks for the great memories!

A mirrored light at that. The glare is a little unfortunate as theis is a remarkable picture and the shades of gold and orange are wonderful.
