I think i may have missed the point here unless maybe this is supposed to be a homeless person? Sorry if I am wrong. The light should be drawing attention to his shoes, but it's hard not to notice his shorts, or lack of.

i dont quite understand the tile...i think the brightness of the leg is distracing and light hitting on the shoe directly is really hard to look at.

no one - he is sitting down. The light on this is really bad, to blow out a black shoe so bad that half of it appears white is a good reason to delete that file and try again. Looking at a mans groin is not very photogentic and does not add to the themse.
Don't men normally wear socks and dress pants with shoes like that? Attention to detail in costuming is important in a photograph.
