the shot itself has some issues with a busy and distracting background, harsh light due to the flash, and the fact that the girl to the right is partially hidden - in addition, the two girls on the sides appear to be uncertain about smiling (as if saying "cheese"), while the girl in the middle has a natural and calm expression

Lovely girls, not such a lovely photo. It COULD be a great photo though. Maybe a tighter crop and certainly fix the white balance issues. If you can't get rid of the yellow cast, try black and white. It might be stunning in BW.
