M121by taseComment by spiritualspatula: A simple scene, but very interesting. The plants look blurred in a bit of an odd way, somehow, but I like it. Good shot. |

elephant blossom bluesby taseComment by rennie: The clouds are like from a Turner painting. Wonderful effect. I like the colors, but it's the sky which is the center point. I would've recompose to crop the lower part. But the sky - magnificent! 8. |

buniby taseComment by tnun: Very compelling portrayal. I like the centredness, the light in her hair and it blowing and all the spaces. There are many fine entries in this challenge, but if I had to chose one to take home I think this would be it. (A later edit might remove or blend the vertical bracnch at the top of her head, but that's all). |

once upon a timeby taseComment by chromeydome: PostLuminous Award Nominee!
not enough red, or exactly the perfect amount of red for a subtle, intriguing entry? I say the latter. |

once upon a timeby taseComment by Yo_Spiff: Once upon a time, the shrubs in the yard needed trimming, but the homeowner was too busy playing with his photos and voting on DP Challenge, so the yard work never got done and the pruning shears eventually rusted away. The end. |

photosynthesisby taseComment by Ceefore: Whilst browsing the thumbnails of the images for this challeneg I didn't really pay this much attention which is a shame as its a really great shot and you need to see it at full size to really appreciate it. What I like is how you have linked the challenge of chemistry with the title and concept of your image, photosynthasis. But how to display this invisible chemistry in your photo? The vibrant saturated greens are a great way of doing this but what I like more than that is the backlighting which focuses attention on the minute details within the structure of the leaf. I hope people don't overlook this as it so beautifully illustrates the concept of photosynthesism, and the rim light around the outside of the leaf is an awesome touch.
Technically.. well, that shadow isn't doing you any favours, it really competes for attention and in this image particularly you need to avoid that at all costs. I would have liked to have seen a slightly different composition - the same effects in play but closer up with maybe not the entire leaf showing and some of that great bokeh in the background. Overall, I like this one and have given it an 8. |

self portrait #4by taseComment by gjumi: I'm surprised by the high number of confused commenters that didn't see the self portait immediately. I think it's quite emphasised, more than the portrait of the girl...
I like the play and double interpretations that this image offers: there's a picture framed by her sunglasses, a very good picture in its own right, and the title asks the viewer to pay attention to it. But, then, there is this portrait of this lady, and one might think that the being of the photographer has a meaning only because of her. So, she should be the subject, she should be the topic of this photo. But no, wait a sec, what's she thinking about, why does she take this pose? And the answer: because there's a photographer there, again he gets all the attention. To state the obvious: the photographer doesn't ruin the photo, he is the photo. Narcissist, I'd say. |
