One thing I learnt quickly on dpc is to know your audience. There are styles of photography that are favoured and so trying something a little quirky or 'different' is bound to be slated by some - and their entitled to do that, so there's no point getting a sulk on.

For me, as long as I'm enjoying photography, I don't mind if nobody 'gets' what I've done, but it is great when someone does, and it only takes one person. Of course it might be completely different for you, but keep going regardless.

For what it's worth, my initial reaction was similar to the majority who said "out of focus" etc. But having spent time and read a bit more about what you were trying to achieve, it puts the photo in a whole different light. So well done.

Perhaps making more of the sandy cliff would communicate the theme better. It looks like a normal snapsht of the coast otherwise.
