For some, Death comes too soonby KristinaGComment: photo: 6
narrative: 10
I gave this an 8 overall. I think the narrative drives it, but there seems to be some technical (or rather aesthetic) issues that lower the image overall. Initially I thought this was a very sharp snapshot, and it wasn't until I took a bit more time with it that I realized it wasn't. I think it looks this way because of the color cast of the candles -not used to 'non-white' light, but also because of the cropping of one of the main subjects (my biggest irk). I know this is out of your control, but one of the things I noticed between the relationship of the title and image is that the boys don't necessarily appear to be mourning/sad, and depending on how the viewer chooses to read into it, they both have faces that almost seem to express curiosity.
hope it helps! |

"everything you can imagine is real"by alexlkyComment: I don't know what to say other than "wow."
Stunning shot. 10 from me. I hope you share your technique, as this doesn't look like your typical "shake the camera like hell- motion blur" |

Story of my life: shit happens.by SaraRComment: as much as I don't want to, this is getting a high vote from me. I'm disgusted, yet at the same time, there's so many wonderful things happening in this. narrative, check. focus, check. stopped motion mid crap, check. but what ultimately makes this: why the heck does it look like the bird is concentrating so hard? |

A wise old owl?... Who?.... Me? by fldaveComment: photo: 6
narrative/title: 8
The quality of this feels a little wonky, a bit less than sharp, a bit of color aberation... feels like a huge crop. The owl is making the perfect gesture- which helps the narrative tremendously. |
