Manhattan Westside Docksby elinenbeComment: The shot seems pretty over-exposed. There is too much light color, and even the darkest shadows aren't very dark, which wouldn't be so bad, but the mid-tones are also quite pale. A session with Levels in Photoshop will fix this. |

- rusty nail -by robeComment: I get -- and just barely -- that the nail is in a drink. Perhaps this information could be better understood if you pulled back a little bit and included the rim of the glass. |

Rusted out turbine from the old mill (background)by DrakeComment: You might want to consider a little less information in your titles...
Technically speaking, the image is somewhat over exposed-- the sky and the tin roof are both blown out to white. Use less exposure or focus/meter on a lighter subject to force the camera to automatically expose less. |

Too Late.by CamComment: FABULOUS title! Really unique and witty shot, almost like a Hitchcock where you know there's rust there, but you can't see it, yet the implication is vivid. I think (and hope) this should do well, at least with the US voters -- I don't know if WD40 is an international product. |

Rusted smileby amnonComment: Pretty dramatically oversharpened. This looks to me like a flat pic that had the contrast boosted too much. It needs less emphasis on the highlights and more range in the mid-tones. |

"Forgotten Memories"by tfarrell23Comment: Nice subject, but shooting into the sun is poor practice. Both the strange little white fleck in the center (a lens flare spot), and the washed out left side are results of this. Additionally, the trees in the background are "growing" out of the tank on the firetruck: the framing of the subject is nice, but the overall composition is lacking in attention to detail. Keep at it -- you have an eye for it. |

High Security by jjbeguinComment: Really nice title. Perhaps there's a touch too much adjustment on the saturation. Awesome wood texture, nicely balanced composition. I think this should do well. |

rusty sticksby sp00fComment: Interesting image -- very graphic, which I like. My only wish is that the sky weren't blown out to white. |

Rusted Windmillby ladpupmoeComment: Nice composition, very crisp and graphic. I don't know if it's legal, but when "cropping" the image in photoshop, you can correct perspective problems (the un-level lines in the background) by making a selection, then chosing "Free Transform" then holding the command-key (or control on a PC) down when you drag one of the handles -- this will allow you to distort the image non-uniformly. Since it doesn't involve a mask, and you can get the selection by doing "select all", it should be legal. |
