Moving Canvas by owenComment: Now I know why you didn't enter one of the shots from the morning in the reflections without mirrors, you were saving it for the free study :)
this was taken on the last Sydney GTG where everyone chickened out because they thought it was going to rain... we ended up with some of the best light on the opera house that I have seen so far
I have a few showing the light as it changed on my site Opera house sunrise
I wonder if we will get a few more turning up next time even if it looks like rain :) |

On your marksby JonathanJComment: lets see numbered blocks, ocean pool, lots of ships in the background.
even though I have never been there I would say somewhere around Newcastle Australia
great exposure, shame that some of the ships are a little to bright |

Trapezeby JutildaComment: this was a tough challenge and I think you approached it the same as I did in that you entered a photo to make people looking at it ask why/what/huh and not have the photo ask a question of the viewer
I liked my photo and I like yours but I think we both got that part wrong
on to the actual photo... it is great :) my only problem is the border, it's not that you used a drop shadow as I like that, it is just that the top left has no definite edge but blends with the background which screws with the 3d effect and keeps drawing my eye away from the main subject
I don't think you could have rotated it to have the mesh lineup on the side and the top at the same time so I think a 1px border around the mesh, but only just enough to lift the corner off the background (a very light gray as black would be to harsh)
If I had taken this shot it would be hanging on my wall by now :) |

The Pondby JutildaComment: I seem to be getting lots of comments on my photos from you so it is about time I returned the complement so I'll pick on some of your less commented on shots I hope I don't pick on them too much :)
1st off this should have scored a lot higher than a 5.1
that said, while it is a busy photo, it is the dead spaces that if removed would greatly enhance the photo. you have to much sky and grass and it over powers the main subjects as I see them
this would look better cropped in a panoramic style buy cropping the sky at the top of the cloud that touches the left hand side and cropping half the grass at the bottom (use a couple of pieces of paper against you monitor thats how I check) I think it still keeps enough of the great sky while bringing out the detail more |
