was life...by GiorgioBaruffiComment: Nice and sharp. Interesting sky behind it. Apart from that a bit boring picture, maybe because it´s too evenly divided in two to make it exciting for me. |

So soft...by LadComment: Nice 3D effect because of the shallow DOF. Border works well. |

Here's looking at you Kidby KristinaGComment: Seems like the blur has been done in post-processing, not by using a shallow DOF. I wouldn´t mind that much, but it gets a bit distracting that the sand gets sharper on the edges. But I like the little fellow, especially those crazy eyes.
Added comment: realizing that this is really the effect of a DOF and not post-processing this becomes quite an interesting picture, because it plays tricks with your mind. My criteria in rating this challenge is whether the DOF actually adds something to the picture, rather than just being a side effect. Since in your shot it does make a very unique shot, with an extreme focus on the eyes he is sticking out of the hole, I upped the score. But it is a shot you have to look at a bit longer than most of the others to realize what´s going on. |

Drop Volleyby dahlinComment: Nice use of shallow DOF here, different approach than the bunch of macro´s but functional |
