Oh my hat!by whiteroomComment: There is a guy (black guy) up in the top right corner scowling at the Giraffe in the Hat. And another guy (white guy) upside-down kissing the first guy on the eye socket. The guy in the back part of the giraffe suit seems too short for the role. The wardrobe guy has done the guy (tall skinny guy) in the front half of the giraffe suit no favours, leaving his fedora on like that; it destroys the whole effect of the trick. This photograph seems a bit rickety. I think you needed some guy-wires.

water worldby tateComment: On the podium. Third place only, but the other two were even more inexplicable than yours, so you can't complain. Of the three, yours is the most beautifully photographed craft-wise. But I don't care about that so it doesn't count. It's still the bronze medal for you, then. But should the other two get disqualified, which of course would be splendid, you are perfectly placed to pounce.
Thank you. |

hey thereby PennyStreetComment: The most interesting photo in the challenge. No, wait. It's one of two that are equally-most-interesting. You're tied at 10. First one to slip me 20 bucks in a plain brown envelope gets an 11, and thoroughly well deserved, too.
Thank you. |

IN THE HAZE OF THE MORNINGby instepsComment: Henry,
A rich pleasure, and a thrilling example of photography as legitimate art.
Iâm so sick of seeing photographs described as âstunningâ (with apologies to tanguera in this case, Iâm not calling her out ... I have great affection and respect for her), because stunning is the act of rendering insensible. This ensemble of spare photographs, presented so simply, so coherently, has the opposite effect; of heightening the viewerâs senses. Itâs anti-stunning.
You demonstrate that one of the most powerful expressions of photography is to reduce the subject to its essentials. A distillation. And in the case of this work, that distillation is a single malt.
Thank you. |
