I love everything about this photo. Your B&W edit is supperb and the heavy black border top and bottom ony add to it. Definitely a keeper.

Only thing I can think of is if you dodged his breath so it would show up more. But this is only a nitpik and is not needed.
Great start to the challenge. |

Great shot of your mum. She has a genuine smile and the arm/hand placement creates a nice triangle frame of her upper body. The vignette helps draw you in to her smile as well.
Suggested improvement:
Only nitpick would be to crop out whatever is running down the left side of the frame. Message edited by author 2010-01-02 04:45:50. |

Beautiful model. The makeup around her eyes creates those little sparkles that really draw me in.
Suggested improvement:
I would like to see a tighter crop on the models face. The room above her head makes the image look too bottom heavy. I would also clone out the stray hairs running over her right eye. |

Looks like the soul of Jimi Hendrix is coming out of him. Very cool.
Suggested improvement:
Since your choice of edit has made his hair blend in with the background, I think you could have cropped a little off the top. This would put the mans eyes in thirds instead of centered as they are now. |

Great environmental portrait. Your choice of B&W works well with street photography.

The contrast is a little to much for my liking. |

Wonderful placement with the little girl in the doorway. It creates that wonderful soft directional lighting we are all looking for. The textures and colours of in wood are superb.

Nothing I can think of right now. |

Smoke Breakby JedusiComment: First impression:
B&W is perfect for this photo considering the re-enactment and the smoke creates a leading line to the mans face. Nicely done.
Suggested improvement:
I think maybe a more landscape crop could work better here. It would give some space and add a sense of distance to where the man is looking. (if that makes any sense) |

What a great moment to capture. The tears in his eyes really bring this shot to life.
You weild that kit lens like it's 'L' glass. No wonder you own most of the images on that lens profile page.

Of Courage, Peace and Quiet Strengthby jegerComment: I'm all for borders, but I think you should have picked a darker red in this situation. You really want the brightest colour to be the leaf so that the viewers eyes get drawn to the subject. Well done otherwise. |
