| 10/21/2005 12:27:29 AM | Moonlight Reflectionby JohnTFComment: 8 - Very nice. The lighting and colors are subtle and good. Criticism; would like to have seen the focus on the reflection (forgive me if it is), with that a lot sharper and the 'real' less sharp, also reducing the noise/grain(?) in the forewater. Nice composition. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/21/2005 12:25:03 AM | Night by gisliComment: 8 - Very nice and simple. Nice colors and the house lighting really enhances this shot. Criticism; difficult, given the time of day and my comment just now on the house lighting, but I would like to have somehow seen more (I can discern a fraction) of the 'mountains' in the reflection, if possible. A slight tighter crop on the left, cutting out that 'land/rock'(?) may have also made this better in my opinion. The only other thing I would like to have seen (and forgive me if I am wrong) is a sharper focus on the reflection, rather than the 'real', with perhaps (if possible) a touch more water at the 'fore'. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/21/2005 12:22:17 AM | Double Visionby PoobaComment: 8 - Very good reflection. Criticism; whilst the house is well reflected, seems a little 'bland' in my opinion, but unsure how this could be improved. The shadows are nice dappled around, just in my opinion, the shot needs something to 'bring it alive' more, perhaps just a different time of day/light. I may be wrong, but seems also to me that your focus is on the reflection and not the 'real' so well done for that. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/21/2005 12:19:31 AM | First Snowby vtruanComment: 8 - This is very nice, think I said 'wow' when I first viewed it. Beautiful scene. Criticism; apologies in advance if I am wrong, but I would love to have seen the reflection sharper (the focus?) in this shot. The water/ice(?) is so 'glass' like, that it just seems even more potential in this shot. The rocks at the fore are a nice effect/contrast, just unsure on if they 'dominate'/detract from this shots potential. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/21/2005 12:14:13 AM | Monsanto Lake, Autumnby 3eyedcrowComment: 8 - Very nice, good color combinations and capture. Criticism; if it were possible, I keep imagining (cropping with hand in front of screen) how this would have looked cropped tighter (from right, perhaps up to the bench(?)), and then 'bigger'. The reflection is nice as is, but I wonder if 'more reflection' (ie: more vivid) could have been gained with a different focus, but you may have already done this (apologies if so), as I can even make out the bottom of the lake(?) at the foreground. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/21/2005 12:09:04 AM | Moonshineby M.O.C.Comment: 8 - Very nice. Like the color combinations, very soft. Criticism; might be wrong but seems to me the 'focus' is on the 'real' and not the reflection, so I would like to see the focus there, which would also make that 'more dominant'. Even a different crop (albeit making a different picture) excluding the bridge would be nice, but I do like the different 'aspect' with the bridge incorporated. A touch 'grainy' especially in the fore waters, but again, if the focus were directed different perhaps this could have been avoided, even if it meant the 'sky' gained it. Apologies if I am incorrect on the focussing. Like the title and was/am impressed with the 'moonrise'/shine - unique. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/21/2005 12:04:04 AM | walk this wayby jonnieComment: 8 - Like this, especially the colors. Criticism; perhaps a different crop, incorporating more 'fore reflection' and less 'top of tree'. Perhaps the 'distant waters edge' softened somehow may have made this better in my opinion. The soft ripple effect works nicely here. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/21/2005 12:01:21 AM | Lost In Timeby instepsComment: 8 - Like this and good title. While not normally a 'fan' of 'flipping' reflections, etc (and apologies if you somehow have not), I think it works very well with this shot. Criticism; not sure for 'calmer waters', with this one, as I like the 'warped time' look, which your title is apt for. Somehow, a more 'dreamy' or 'surreal' look obtained would be good, but unsure how, perhaps the coloring and/or light (sky especially). Not sure on the frame. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/17/2005 09:56:16 PM | Mildred put a lamp shade on her head and thought she was the life of the party.by chaliceComment: 5 - 'Juvenile', but I like it. The title carries most of the weight though in my opinion, and whilst not normally a 'fan' of 'weighty titles', for this Challenge, I make an exception. Criticism; noisy/grainy(?), not sure on the colors, perhaps a diffferent crop/perspective. Mildred facing the others may have also made this better in my opinion. Just noticed the 'remnants' on the fore partygoer, attention to detail (cleaning) would be better. The lighting needs work and overall this shot has a 'snapshot' 'feel' to it, in my opinion, but I like the potential, just wish you gave it more 'attention'. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/16/2005 10:20:52 PM | Bashfulby sibelingComment: 7 - Well executed. Criticism; whilst the colors and lighting work well, I would like to have seen the 'blues'/background/base/etc more subtle if possible, really making the bashful banana 'pop' out. Not sure on the frame, maybe it helps with the 'subject' though. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
