Picnic in Cathedral Parkby ElemmennopeComment: I can understand the DNMC remarks.
Beyond that, there are a few elements which a painter would of omitted, the telephone pole and the whatever in the last archway.
The other problem I see is that in B&W the tonal range of the second acrh blends into the trees to much for me.
I find I always want to see the color version. Let me add great eye. This is the type of shot I really like to see. |

Go Astros!by DelfeyeComment: Simple composition, reminiscent of a water color.
The reason it didn't do as well as you expected in the challenge was that it was in the wrong challenge. You admit in your details that you forced it in via title.
Personally I would have found this a very interesting entry in Landscapes My first impression was using it as a visual compliment to Joyce Kilmer's "Trees". |

Projectile Whiteby StrikeslipComment: This is certainly a visceral image. My prior review may have been a 'gut ' response.
In looking at an image like this the viewer is forced to seek a deeper meaning to the imagery. Symbolism becomes an important aspect of this type of work, the stronger the ideological component, the more effective the piece. In a way iconoclastic art is a lot like humor, sometimes a joke works and sometimes it doesn't.
All that doesn't mean I think your picture is any better, because for me the symbolism isn't there. Hopefully it may give you insight into improving you art.
(Thanks for making me look at this again.) |

De Vrouw Leentjeby AzrifelComment: Strong image, really don't see any weakness. Would have liked to see the color version, if there was one, for contrast. |

Jennings Creekby SJCarterComment: Nice nature shot with a strong impresionist influence.
My only suggestion would be toward the rule of 1/3s.
Your subject is really the vanishing point of the stream, the point where the stream merges with the woods. Lowering that point, perhaps 10%, toward the bottom of the frame might make a more interesting shot.
Basicly, less creek, more trees. |

Model in the Makingby KatmystiryComment: One of the better 'kid' pictures I've seen. Her expresion is very engaging, a factor which makes it interesting to me. Someone on the site uses a quote which says there are two people in every photo, the photographer and the viewer. That's an important thing to remember.
T&A (technical and artistic)is great, wouldn't change a thing. Message edited by author 2005-11-04 17:09:01. |

41246847-L.jpgby stare_at_the_sunComment: Interesting dark moody piece, graininess is very strong element. I like the stratified look, but am not sure about the object in the right foreground. It might be interesting to clone it out and try cropping it tighter from the bottom, perhaps about 5%. Hope this helps. |

...Running through mindfield...by ApeeComment: You display a frightfully awesome talent. Outside of the context of this challenge, this is a masterpiece. As a challenge entry, I don't think its the best interpretation of busy, too subjective, within the mind of your subject. 8
