I like the lighting of the face in this picture.

What does not work for me here is the expression on the face. To me the expression is that the boy is not too happy with what he is doing. It should have either been that the boy is very happy/excited about something or "Oh Shit!" with his score or something.

Also, the focus and sharpness are not too great.

Hey that's an innovative idea! I love that! Did you use a flash? I have no idea if it would have been possible to shoot this without those hotspots visible. But if there was a way to remove those (some advanced editing maybe) then this would have looked even better
