Dignityby PaulkComment: This is a very interesting piece of 'artwork'??
Is this clay, leather? I can't tell, only that it is an attention grabber.
You have photographed this object well in the low key fashion. I like the side lighting , with very little detail to the left side. Your contrast from light to dark is perfect, without much in the way of gray tones. Yet, you still have revealed a significant amount of detail in the texture. Your focus and DOF are dead on as well. Well done! |

Searching for Wonderland by pipedreamerComment: This is one of my favorites this week. It is technically excellent and the angle really works here (at least for me). Nicely done! |

My head is in here somewhereby brentg3Comment: I like this alot... I know lots of people are going to be looking for a photo of a person. To me, a self portrait is something that reveals one's character, personality, etc as well as what they look like. This image tells a story and reveals something about who you are, rather than just what you look like. I give it a 7. Good luck

My Position in the Worldby juseyhotaComment: Would like to see more depth of field here. Great photo for a macro or still life. I like the concept and the colors... Not really a self portrait to me. I am being very open minded with regards to relativity... I'm not really looking for a photo of you per se, but at least an image that would reveal some of your character, interests, etc maybe. All this tells me is that you live on or near the Southern East Coast. Your chess piece is very large in comparison to the scale of the map, so that is even difficult to determine. For quality and interest of image, I would give it a 7 or 8, but for applicability to this challenge I need to downgrade it to a 5.
Good luck,

Unfrozenby 'PongComment: Would have given this a 10 if it were better technically. I give it a 10 for creativity and its emotive value. Technically, it seems a little hot on the right side, and could use a little more light on the left. Your background has a hotspot behind and above your head. Stepping away from the wall would have helped. I give it an 8 based on its appeal and interest level. It would be fun to see you do this again with better lighting and background...

must practise more?by hughletherenComment: Must be a Konador (spelling and I think I've seen you do an image of a trumpet in the past). I am especially impressed with your setup... Black background with a hole, subject in hole backlit. Very creative. Assuming you are Ben, I envy the fact that digital photography/internet/image editing etc etc is available at this point in your life. I loved photography as a teenager/early 20's, but couldn't afford to go crazy with it. I'm happy to see the way you utilize the technology along with your natural talent! You do great work and you are getting better all the time.
If you are not Ben, I like your image and please forward this comment to Konador!!!!
LOL

Bubblesby BobsterLobsterComment: What a great shot! I give this a 10.
I had thought to try bubbles, but I'm glad I didn't. Mine would have suffered in comparison to yours!! Nice work and good luck. Hope to see this image win this challenge.

Like Father, Like Sonby buck4freeComment: This is not one of my favorites for the week based upon visual appeal and technical specs. But... I give it a 10 anyway. It is very creative, well executed, and I have three little boys myself --- been there, done that, but without the pictures!! LOL |
