Left Behindby davidus428Comment: This is a very appealing shot, and the scattered rocks lead your eyes right out to the horizon, but I think it would have even more impact if much of the bottom portion (most of the visible sand) were cropped out. |

Vera Wang for menby MelethiaComment: Nice find and great accidental "double portrait". It helps that his jacket is jet black and contrasts so strongly against the wedding dress, and that he's positioned enough at an angle to get a partial profile. Looks like he's seriously considering a purchase... :) |

Morning swimby MelethiaComment: The wonderful light and great definition in the rippling water give this image such a nice liveliness and energy. Filling the composition with all those ripples works wonders. |

April Snowby xianartComment: Bleak, cold, desolate - a good capture of mood. I find myself being bothered by the slightly tilted horizon, although I admit I don't think a perfectly level horizon would improve the image. If it were level, I wouldn't be bothered, I'd be bored. :) Started this at a 7, bumping to an 8. |

Breaking through the cloudsby ingvarComment: Very nice, I like how this landscape reveals more of itself the more you look at it. It's possible the overall effect may be improved if you cropped out just a bit of the really dark portion of the sky at the top - it seems to me like it might be a little too much dark, that it's in danger of overwhelming the other elements in the composition. |

Optionsby manishComment: I really like the perspective you chose, but I wish the background didn't look so washed out. Started this at a 7, bumping to an 8. |

Crucisby FedericoComment: Saw this in stdavidson's critique thread and was reminded that I had never got to comment on it, so I'll rectify that here. I voted this a 9, and really liked, as a number of commenters have already noted, the moodiness and mystery of the shot. Not making the people the focus of the image is key to its success for me, as is the lighting. Including the people, however marginally, did have the added benefit of provoking me to "hear" the image - that sounds crazy, but with the strong focus on the cobblestones and background hint at the pedestrians, the image moved me to recall the sound of footsteps on cobblestones. It's not every day an image comes with its own soundtrack!
My only quibble, and keep in mind it is minor - is that one of your pedestrians is carrying a pocketbook that I happen to find somewhat distracting in the image.
I just read some of your comments again and notice someone else noted "hearing" the cobblestones, too. :) |

My Baby Can't Danceby pointandshootComment: This is so truly bizarre I feel compelled to give it a high score simply because it astonishes me. I'm giving this a 9 for extreme originality. :) |

Short Lifeby stargazer05766Comment: Some might say this is just a too-centered image of a fly, but for me the whole composition projects a physical depth and a moodiness that I find very attractive. Even if this was just a spur of the moment "snapshot" for you and the composition is accidental, kudos for your "happy accident". It scores tops from me, but I suspect it won't score well with DPC voters overall - hopefully I will be wrong. Anyway, I like it very much. :) |

Tonkiby xianartComment: This is just beautiful - I love the range of tones in this image. I did not know there was a Holga action for PS. If you'd willing to share, please PM me about it. |
