This is great. I'd have thought it would score way higher. It has a lot more interest than many of the higher rated ones, and is far from the typical abandoned house or railroad car most people would guess would be the most popular subjects on this theme.

Have you tried it with it rotated so the horizon's horizontal and the cart's at a slight angle, instead of the cart being cropped square?

Anyway, great location, concept, and execution. A lot of the most imaginative and stylistic pictures can't do so well because the contest averages all scores. For "polarizing" pictures that get a lot of 9's and 10's but also a lot of 3's and 4's because they're interesting but rubbed some people the wrong way, they might try some sort of "honorable mention" or something that rewards images with fairly high scores and relatively high standard deviations in the scoring.

I would have rated this way higher than it got, I think it should be in the top three. It's a little heavy handed with the saturation/"painterly" story-book aesthetic, but I like it a lot, and the aesthetic goes well with the picture. The blue spots come out so strong, they look a little odd.

I'd have maybe cropped the house a little closer into the bottom left corner, but that's just me. Good job, anyway. The lines of that collapsing house are just great- it has so much twist.

The two in this series are just brilliant. Awesome. Guggenheim-worthy, in my unqualified opinion.

My only reservation is that for some reason, I feel strongly that in "The Re-Training," the fallen flying girl should also be borrowing the umbrella and holding it opened in her free hand, trying to add a "Mary Poppins" to her host of other unsuccessful attempts to re-attain the skies.

Anyway, brilliant work.
