The Quiet Sentinels of the Secrets within these Penitentiary Wallsby quiet_observationComment: I really enjoyed this photo when I viewed it for the Team Suck thing posthumous instigated. I didn't vote for it in the out-of-the box category because I felt the one that I did vote on (I think it was the computer architecture thing) fit that description more. I'm actually really tired of that expression---I like creative thinking but I think it is overused and the results of so-called 'out-of-the-box' thinking are often irrelevant and preposterous. Anyway, I liked this image the best out of the ones offered. I really didn't even want to participate in that voting but I really like posthumous...;D
I really like the colors and the textures in this. It is another example of what is obviously your talent for careful observation of your surroundings. My only beef with this image was that the focus could be sharper for the crackling to really stand out. I know this can be difficult if the lighting isn't great. |

Not at homeby quiet_observationComment: This is really lovely. I love this sort of sparse, still water photo where you don't really know where the object ends and the reflection begins. This shows careful observation and a good understanding of exposure. Water is tough! |

Shadow Ballby liltritterComment: I think this should have placed higher than it did. It did not deserve so many 3's or 4's--that's just ludicrous. I gave it a 7. |

impossible.jpgby liltritterComment: Very cute. This shows a great design sensibility. I really like the color scheme--cheerful but not cloyingly pastel. |

lone-tree.jpgby TimComment: I have a weakness for this type of extreme positioning of a subject in a relatively plain background. This one immediately caught my eye. I wonder if you could do a little creative dodging/burning to accentuate the shapes of the clouds and add more drama to the sky? |

pug-graveyard.jpgby TimComment: I like the choice of shooting this subject at this time of day. It is unexpected and adds drama to the subject Often, people shoot rusted out old cars in the blinding light of the afternoon and then, quite predictably convert to b&w,usually with a sepia cast. This is quite a refreshing take on a popular subject. |

Shadows IIIby duffloopComment: This type of photo doesn't generally do well on DPC so it makes me glad to see it ranked fairly high. I gave it an 8 but I didn't comment during voting. Really nice work. |

Noirby AghrisComment: Very nice mood. It definitely captures the mood your title is aiming for. Great exposure. |

Surrounded by shadowsby Ragga2000Comment: I'm not getting a sense of the shadows that are supposedly surrounding this child. Does the title refer to the shaded woods? It is a nice portrait but shadows aren't the main visual impact. The connection to the challenge is pretty tenuous, IMO. |
