All right. That does it. Into my favorites you go. Great shot but I think its an even better example of your vision in editing. I've been trying to shoot some dance material and this shot, to me anyway, captures some of the solemnity with the lighting/contrast/focus. Its a lovely rendition of a beautiful move. Congrats on this one.

You have a great composition here. It's just far enough off-center but not at a thirds line. It makes nice use of placement to weight the image a little without overbalancing it. The lightness of the patina balances out the colors of her outfit. I love how it looks like you have a vignette here, too. Did you apply a vignette or is that done with lighting at the time of shooting? Your skin treatment is fantastic as well. I love the slight softening of the skin that I'm perceiving; its serves to reinforce how the color interacts on her skin. The makeup stands out on her cheeks and lips and it leads me to feel that she's prepared to perform on the outside which contrasts with the look and the pose which looks like she wants anything but a performance. This is a wonderful submission to me since it seems timeless. It looks like you captured not just a set of blue pixels (which shows you that several of your peers like this) but it looks like you captured an ethos of lonliness or introspection or some other feeling to which many people can relate. Great job and congrats on that ribbon.

Great shot! Very clear and you both utilized the "artistic" concept of moving a healthy portion of the subject off-center while stepping out and cropping into his outline. I think its great. Exposure is fine, expression is fine.

I like this implementation of color better than the 2nd shot you posted. The angle is different and it seems (to me) to capture more of the story of someone working for their art; he seems like he's been at something for awhile kinda like labor. The curled and matted hair along his forehead, a few shiny spots along his cheeks (sweat maybe?) and the hard light (notice the shadows in his mouth) really sell me that he's been workin' that guitar and mike for some time now and he's not gonna give up his place in front of it until he's found the sound that he wants. This is (in my estimation) the most artistic presentation of a closed set session. I get the feeling of an artist struggling with his craft but eventually creating something that is truly his expression.

I really like the use of color in something like this to convey the ethos of a concert or performance. The angle of this shot isn't doing a lot for me, though. Good change up to the first; just not my fave.
