Clod September morningby drengur1Comment by Melethia: I'll guess you meant "Cold" (and that I'm not the first to tell you that). I really like the quiet darkness of the foreground - so very peaceful! |

Ternsby drengur1Comment by drengur1: Thanks paulbtlw. Good comments. I did paly with the background a bit, but this way it had the least amount of grain. |

Ternsby drengur1Comment by Paul: OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy):
Positives: One of those I have chosen to comment on in this commentary series which probably has wider mainstream appeal. I really like this image, it has a simplicity to it and this simplicity is manifested in many ways - the subject matter, the composition, the edit - all uncomplicated, unfussy and elegant. I like that there is some grain in the background and how the motion unsharpness challenges the clarity of the image. I believe it to be all the better for the imperfections.
Critical stuff: I think the grey of the background might have been manipulated in one direction or the other - I think either lighter or darker may have offered something more compelling.
Overall: This is a fine image which deserves to do well. |

Volcanic landscapeby drengur1Comment by JulietNN: Hi from the CC Club,
the first thing that my eyes are draw to are the lovely hills all misty fading into the background. then I look more closely. the scrub land has a few problems, the rest seems to have clumped together and there are no details in them. They look over processed and too sharp.
I would crop a 1 and 1/4 inches of the bottom of your picture, so that there is still scrub land to see in this interesting round pattern. If you do that, then you will also see a lovely leading line going up to your hills.
In post processing, I would tweak with the selective colour black , shadow and highlight as well, just to pop those hills out
if you have any questions, please pm me

Volcanic landscapeby drengur1Comment by tnun: Fine shot. Not in-your-face dramatic. It tells me the sort of things I am interested in here: the colours and hint of textures of the scrub and the different shapes and distances of the background hills/mountains/volcanic risings. |
