Week 6 - Singer Islandby TammsterComment by senor_kasper: Originally posted by MelonMusketeer: Cool colors in this, and I like the perspective. I worked in that area about 1972, on Tiara, and Water Glades condos when they were being built. It was great to watch the sunrise in the mornings from the top, and to hit the beach with snorkel and fins at the end of the work day. |
How about that!! did you know that the Tiara was condemned (and I believe it remains so) after the hurricanes of 2004? |

West Palm Beach, FLby TammsterComment by MelonMusketeer: I like the way you aligned the two palms and sun in this shot.
I think I would have used a wider angle, or moved back a little if possible, to get the top of the center tree.
In all, it's a very nice sunrise or sunset. The little clouds look like the ones that are usually there just ahead of the rising sun. |

Feels so good...by TammsterComment by MelonMusketeer: We can't always set up the shot with animals and birds, but you nailed the perfect pose and a couple of beautiful, healthy looking, blue and gold macaws with this shot. Bumping the saturation and contrast up a little, and using levels at the dark end a little to remove the light sheen, would have helped the texture in the blue feathers. The limb at shoulder level probably hurt this shot in voting, but there is not much that can be done with basic edit for that problem. |

View of South Beachby TammsterComment by pineapple: Perhaps either use a custom white balance or simply select the tungsten option. Use an ISO of 200-400 but no need to go higher. Use a moderate ap of, say, 5.6 to 16.00. I find these type of settings, depending on the night, yield better crisper less noisy shots. I prefer shorter shots simply because they yield a much better quality result. I also think that above all timing the golden hour and being there ready for it is even more important than anything I have just said. Get there an house before sunset, set up tripod, and start shooting. You will be surprised at the results. |

View of South Beachby TammsterComment by Tammster: Thanks Andrew. Crispness was exactly what is missing. I will start with 100 ISO and set in aperture mode at F8-F11. I'm going to check out your profile now... |

View of South Beachby TammsterComment by andrewt: Very nicely done. My comment would be to lower your ISO to 100 , use a more optimum aperture say between F8 - F11 for your lens. This would give you a better & crisper image quality. Exposure time of course will go up to probably but that would only enhance the streaks.
ISO800 would result in a granier image and image quality at F26 will also be poorer. Hope my comments help. I do have some night images which in my portfolio that you could view for ref. Andrew |
