National Museum, 1879by kostiaComment by Ten13: For this contest, I am understanding that negative space = the area surrounding the subject. In this image, that would be the sky, which just isn't interesting to me. The statue is cool, but that's the subject of the image - and there's nothing else that is interesting to look at. Maybe if there was an orange/pink sunset sky or something, I would like this better. Good luck in the contest. |

Catching the last busby kostiaComment by gerdagrice: I like this composition a lot. The empty pavement and the blown about bits of paper and the dead leaves do certainly coinvey a feeling of desolation to me. Nice interpreation of the challenge. |

Catching the last busby kostiaComment by Fayech: i think missing the last bus would be more desolate. :o)
this image would be more impactful if maybe their was someone there waiting. just a hint of their feet or something. |

Catching the last busby kostiaComment by imagesloyola: you know what...i love the simplicity of this image...this is the common thing, every body saw in the street and you captured it very nicely, got a very good eye...the composition is just right. rating...9 |

Catching the last busby kostiaComment by Kavey: My feeling about this image is that you may have concentrated so hard on showing a desolate scene that you have overlooked the importance of presenting an image that works in it's own right. Although the abandoned bus ticket is the focal point and presumably the subject the thing that stands out most to me is the unattractive metal gate/ shelter/ signpost at the left of the frame. I feel it makes the composition weak. I wonder if it might be stronger if the image contains the same bus ticket (or other litter) on it's own on the paving? The texture, dirt and strong lines of the paving have some interest and might give more focus to the ticket?

Catching the last busby kostiaComment by amsmyth: for me litter doesn't make for desolate and I need your title to understand your intent, rather than getting it from the photo |
