I will use all the chances not to dieby NafigatorComment by Nafigator: Originally posted by glad2badad: I don't understand the title to this image. What's the purpose of the rope in this image? I know, these questions aren't really related to the quality of the image, but do help with context. As for the image, the angled placement of the subject helps - it's still a bit centered. Some shadows falling on the right end of the rope could be eliminated with a light reflector to fill. I keep getting distracted by what appears to be some text under the paper on the left center side of the photo. All of the above is JMO of course. ;^)
Best of luck to you in the challenge. |
Thanks for detailed comment!
As to the title... Maybe it's a poor English, sorry. Under this title I've meant what this rope says: it tries to "survive" in this fight with the scissors, tying around their handles and trying to avoid being cut... :)
I think now that the way the rope is turned seems not to be good, since its "force" is not in right direction and it doesn't look like trying to prevent cutting. I will take this into consideration... Message edited by author 2006-08-30 03:51:21. |

Preparing the presentby NafigatorComment by Nafigator: Originally posted by Caltrop: well... I was a carpenter for many years and even though i recognize the difficulty in handcrafting something this shot to me is unappealing. The light is a little harsh and the shadow on the hand make the hand ehhh I am not sure how to put this but.... i guess too dark.? Finally the theme was metal and the image is primarily composed of wood and flesh with the metal dull and unpronounced. Oh yeah one more thing the chisel you are using seems a wee bit on the large size to be carving a man shape.
I hope this helps a wee bit- sorry if that was harsh. |
Your critique is fair, it wasn't harsh :) About size of chisel... I guess I just wasn't honest enough in this shot - I used this chisel in other places and here I just handles it to show more metal :) And.. I was punished for this lie :) It really looks some weird... :(
But I will show you the final result - hope, it looks more promising, than on this shot (it's my first wood work).
Thanks for opinion. |
